What to do in Lyon for International Women’s Rights Day 2026?

On March 8, 2026, on the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, the city of Lyon is mobilizing to promote gender equality and fight against violence against women.

Each year, this day highlights the importance of continuing the fight for women’s rights. In 2025, the feminist collective #NousToutes recorded 167 femicides, which is 26 more than in 2024. Since the beginning of 2026, 20 femicides have already been committed in France.

Throughout the weekend of March 7 and 8, 2026, several events will take place in Lyon to raise awareness, encourage discussion, and mobilize collectively for a more equal society.

Feminist Forum at Lyon City Hall

On Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., feminist associations from Lyon will gather in the former archives salons of Lyon City Hall for a Feminist Forum.

This event will highlight various feminist and anti-racist initiatives led by organizations across the Lyon area.

From 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the Salon de la Conservation, participants will also be able to take part (upon reservation and subject to availability) in the creation of a mural against sexism, particularly in the workplace.

March 8 Demonstration: Mobilizing for Women’s Rights

On Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., a demonstration for women’s rights and gender minorities will be held at the call of the Collectif Droits des Femmes 69.

The march will start at Place Jean-Macé, in Lyon’s 7th arrondissement.

This mobilization serves as a reminder that gender equality remains a collective struggle and that everyone can play a role in advancing women’s rights.
